Job summary

Police Athletic League Inc. seeks an Assistant Director to lead COMPASS School Program Afterschool initiatives across NYC school sites and PAL centers. The role focuses on supervising youth programming, coordinating staff, and building partnerships with schools, police, and service providers.

You will help deliver SEL, literacy, STEM, and mental health supports for diverse youth ages 5–18, ensuring safe, inclusive environments and adherence to DYCD and SACC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and listening skills with youth and families.
• Experience coordinating afterschool or school-based programs is preferred.
• Must be able to work day, evening, and weekend programming.

Responsibilities

• Foster safe, inclusive environments and support SEL, mental health, and inclusion practices.
• Assist with recruitment, hiring, and supervision of part-time staff.
• Ensure program alignment with PAL policies and funding requirements.
• Collaborate with NYPD, NYCPS, DYCD, DOH, and community partners.
• Plan citywide programs, events, and youth engagement activities.
• Provide on-site mediation and escalate time-sensitive mental health needs.
