RESA Power is seeking a Field Tech Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in power transmission and distribution. You will inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain HV/LV equipment under supervision, with comprehensive training provided.

This entry-level role emphasizes safety, data collection, and customer service across multiple US locations; strong willingness to learn and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• No prior field experience is required.
• Technical school coursework in electrical systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with standards such as NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of electricity and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work safely and follow electrical safety procedures.
• Strong communication, both verbal and written.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions under guidance of experienced technicians.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet research.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on LV/MV/HV electrical systems (up to 500kV).
• Performing testing and maintenance on switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Inspecting and servicing transformers (45 KVA to 130 MVA) and related equipment.
• Maintaining and repairing circuit breakers (low to medium voltage).
• Working with SF6-filled equipment and gas-insulated switchgear.
• Testing and inspecting cable installations.
• Operating high voltage test equipment (e.g., Doble Power Factor sets).
• Start-up, troubleshooting, and repair of controls and transfer schemes.
• Participating in on-call rotations and responding to emergencies.
• Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
