Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Project Manager I to independently manage small to mid-sized electrical construction projects or defined scopes within larger initiatives. You will oversee execution, cost tracking, and coordination across field and office teams to meet contract and schedule goals.

The role sits within the Project Team under Operations and involves procurement, billing, and client communication while developing stronger financial and contract administration skills in mission-critical

Qualifications

• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of electrical construction systems, installation methods, and project sequencing.
• Ability to independently interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong understanding of project cost components including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and support basic financial forecasting.
• Effective communication skills with ability to interact with field teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects or scopes simultaneously.
• Problem-solving skills with ability to make sound decisions within defined authority.
• Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Autodesk, etc.), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic understanding of scheduling tools and coordination across trades.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA) and compliance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage assigned projects or defined scopes from kickoff through closeout, ensuring alignment with contract, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term lookaheads, and coordination plans with field leadership.
• Manage project costs including tracking budgets, commitments, labor productivity, and forecasting financial performance.
• Prepare, submit, and track change orders; support negotiation within defined authority levels.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant execution of work.
• Manage procurement activities including material buyouts, purchase orders, and long-lead item tracking.
• Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, logs, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
• Manage owner billing processes including AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and collections follow-up.
• Participate in client and contractor meetings; communicate project status, risks, and updates.
• Identify project risks and issues; implement solutions within scope and elevate as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies across project activities.
• Support project closeout including punch list completion, commissioning coordination, and final documentation turnover.
