Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist in Wilson, NC. You will help ensure regulatory compliance, manage EHS programs, and train teams across the site.

You will support SIPs/EMS, assist audits, and drive incident investigations while maintaining safety performance. Strong communication and collaboration are essential in a fast-paced food-processing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, health and safety or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Able to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Willing to work long hours, weekends, and be on-call when required.
• Occasional travel to collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compliance and reporting for EHS matters to location management.
• Maintain Process Safety Management/Risk Management Plan for ammonia refrigeration.
• Support environmental permits and audits; assist ISO certifications.
• Train production employees and management per OSHA and permit programs.
• Review incident investigation reports and track action items.
