Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator at our Des Moines area location. You will help implement and maintain EHS programs, ensure OSHA and environmental permit compliance, and support ISO certifications to promote a safe and sustainable operation.

You will work with the EHS team to track KPIs, manage incident investigations, and provide training to production staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Able to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Willing to work long hours, weekends, and be on-call when required.
• Occasional travel may be involved.

Responsibilities

• EHS program management support including updates, inspections, and permits.
• Support Process Safety and Security compliance for ammonia refrigeration and site security.
• Track and report key EHS KPIs and close identified action items.
• Support ISO certification efforts (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and EMS/SIPS programs.
• Provide training to production employees and management per OSHA and permits.
• Collaborate with the EHS team to ensure regulatory and company-standard compliance.
