Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated technology support technician for a temporary, hourly position. You will provide basic, first-line assistance to teachers and staff, troubleshoot hardware and software, and help manage accounts for instructional apps.

The role supports school-based DOT standards and collaborates with division tech teams. You will install and upgrade software, assist with network access and password resets, and coordinate hardware deliveries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience providing technical support for hardware, software and operating systems.
• Industry certifications preferred (e.g., Network+).

Responsibilities

• Provide basic, first-line technical support to school staff and students.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor computer and peripheral problems.
• Manage accounts and reporting for instructional applications.
• Assist with network access issues and password resets as needed.
• Install and configure new computers with site software/drivers.
• Coordinate hardware setup and placement for new devices.
• Maintain technology inventory and document work in the DOT Service Desk.
• Collaborate on software purchases and verify technical requirements.
• Provide SharePoint and Student Portal training and support.
• Prepare technology for online testing and assist with DOT initiatives.
