Job summary

Pearson is hiring a Manager, Content Developer to lead editors supporting assessment exams in the United States. You will oversee editorial workflows, production accuracy, and security, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements and quality standards.

You will manage a team, plan capacity, and monitor schedules, with a focus on continuous improvement and educator/student service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, education, publishing, or related field.
• 5+ years in editorial, assessment, publishing, production, educational content, or related environment.
• 3+ years leading/editing teams or cross-functional projects.
• Experience managing multiple complex deliverables with competing timelines and quality requirements.
• Ability to interpret style guides, client requirements, process documentation, and quality standards.
• Experience with high-stakes assessment, educator licensure, certification exams, educational publishing, or item banking systems preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools; experience with databases or CMS platforms preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction and document decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and develop a team of editors including assignments, feedback, onboarding, training, and professional development.
• Oversee editorial and production workflows for teacher assessment exams, study guides, practice materials, item banks, and related deliverables.
• Plan team capacity, prioritize deliverables, and monitor schedules to ensure timely completion across multiple programs.
• Ensure work follows client requirements, style guides, accessibility expectations, quality standards, and security protocols.
• Partner with content developers, assessment specialists, psychometricians, project managers, publishing teams, and client-facing groups to clarify requirements.
• Review project status, identify risks, elevate issues, and implement mitigation plans to protect schedules and quality.
• Support quality control activities including proofreading, copyediting, metadata review, item accounting checks, formatting validation, and final production review.
• Maintain and improve documented procedures, templates, tracking tools, and job logs for consistency and efficiency.
• Analyze workflow data, recurring defects, and feedback to recommend process improvements and strengthen team performance.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, and service to educators and learners.
