Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking an Unit Coordinator/Secretary for the SSH Emergency Department in Weymouth, MA. The role involves coordinating nursing activities, managing patient flow, and handling reception and clerical duties to keep the unit efficient.

The position supports patient and family-centered care with emphasis on safety, quality, and compliance while adapting to evening shifts and weekend/holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and document information accurately.
• Weekend/Evening shifts: 3PM-11:30PM or similar are required.

Responsibilities

• Support patient experience with courteous interactions.
• Use department-required software and PCS systems.
• Review and process orders, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Maintain bed tracking and central scheduling accuracy.
• Prepare unit reports and file charts for records.
• Order supplies and coordinate with stores and vendors.
• Uphold safety, regulatory, and privacy standards.
• Serve as a preceptor and support policy updates.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and visitors.
• Respect patient and family preferences in care planning.
