Job summary

South Shore Health in Weymouth, MA is seeking an Emergency Department Unit Coordinator for part-time evening shifts. You will support nursing staff, manage patient flow, schedule and coordinate orders, admissions, discharges, and communications across departments to ensure efficient ED operations.

The role requires strong basic medical terminology knowledge, solid computer skills, and the ability to document clearly and interact compassionately with patients and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing staff, patient, physician, and other departments and visitors.
• Review and manage orders, schedule admissions/discharges, and ensure timely notifications.
• Keep bed tracking and PCS systems up to date.
• Book appointments through central scheduling as indicated.
• Ensure discharge paperwork and medication reconciliation are completed and faxed as needed.
• Complete shift reports, rounds, and unit communications.
