Job summary

South Shore Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Unit Coordinator/Secretary to support the nursing unit by coordinating activities, handling communication, requisitioning and managing supplies, and assisting patients, physicians and visitors.

You will perform receptionist and clerical duties, maintain bed and order tracking, process admissions/discharges, support central scheduling, and contribute to a culture of safety and patient-family centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing unit activities and communicate with patients, staff, physicians and visitors.
• Perform receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate unit functioning.
• Process orders/admissions/discharges and track bed status.
• Maintain unit workflow with chart audits, shift reports and medication tracking.
• Order supplies and manage par levels in collaboration with Operations Supervisor.
• Ensure safety, privacy and regulatory compliance on the unit.
• Act as a preceptor for new employees and support policy updates.
