Job summary

Children's of Alabama's Emergency Department is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients at bedside, verify demographics and insurance, and collect co-pays in a fast-paced ED setting. You will coordinate with the care team and ensure accurate billing information is captured for admissions.

The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure on a day/evening shift with some weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with insurance verification and medical terminology preferred.
• Epic system knowledge and cash posting experience preferred.
• Experience with patient registration applications preferred.
• Strong customer service and ability to work independently essential.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform ED registration workflows, collect co-pays, verify accounts and update information.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical setting.
• Be flexible and willing to work at different locations and roles as needed.
• Serve as the first point of contact for patients and families.
