Job summary

Children’s of Alabama is seeking an Emergency Department Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients and families arriving in the main campus ED in downtown Birmingham. You will collect demographics, verify insurance information, and support admissions and billing processes.

Work schedule is full-time on the Day-Evening shift, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend. The role demands clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly

Qualifications

• Experience/knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Register patients in the ED, collecting identity, demographics and insurance information.
• Verify information to support accurate billing and admissions.
• Handle co-pay collection and account verification and updates.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical staff to meet patient needs.
