Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is hiring for a Patient Access Advocate I - ED to register patients, verify demographics, insurance, and collect at point of service for scheduled and unscheduled visits. You will use CARES, AIDET, and EPIC to deliver accurate registrations and provide directions to patients.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and 6 months of healthcare or 1 year customer service experience; CHAA/CHAM preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months healthcare experience or 1 year customer service.
• Complete Patient Access Academy with 85% or higher within 6 months.
• CHAA, CHAM or related certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance and billing terminology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; EPIC proficiency test required with 85%.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional patient experience using CARES, AIDET and EPE tools.
• Resolve complaints promptly and de-escalate when needed.
• Manage conflicts and involve supervisor when necessary.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities.
• Ensure accounts are financially cleared at time of service.
• Conduct patient registration and data entry accurately.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Document actions in the system for audit trail.
• Maintain knowledge of authorization requirements and Medicare guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records and timely documentation.
