Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking an Economic Service Worker to support the Bureau for Family Assistance. You will process applications, interview clients, determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid and other programs, and maintain caseloads with accuracy and compassion.

The role emphasizes staying current with policy updates, data entry in systems, and coordinating referrals to additional services as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Experience substituting training with direct client services may count year-for-year.
Experience in customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work may substitute.

Responsibilities

Processing and tracking applications for economic assistance programs.
Conducting telephone and face-to-face interviews with clients to gather information and determine eligibility.
Completing reviews and determining eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.
Maintaining an up-to-date caseload and ensuring timely case processing.
Monitoring and responding to client communications and referrals to additional services as needed.
Maintaining current knowledge of policy updates and program changes.
Entering and managing client data in appropriate systems and dashboards.
Assisting in the recovery of overissued benefits when applicable.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
