Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer to join our Hamilton, NJ team for a full-time position starting Summer 2027. You will support the design and development of utility-scale projects in transmission and distribution, renewable energy, and control systems.

Under supervision, you will collect data, assist with single-line and bus layouts, prepare documentation, and help ensure safety and compliance across design phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of electrical design for large capital projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction laws and codes.
  • Effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile and analyze data on substation components and equipment specs for procurement and design review.
  • Assist with designing single-line, three-line wiring diagrams, general arrangement, and bus layouts.
  • Support AC/DC panel design, conduit and trenching design strategies for safety and functionality.
  • Assist with site verification and technical guidance on engineering, design, testing, and maintenance tasks.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, and lighting controls under supervision.
  • Generate complete documentation using drawings, electronic systems, and field notes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures, data collection, and surveys.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Support ethical decision-making regarding resources and company funds.
