Job summary

Catholic Charities-Dept For Persons With Disabilities (DPD) is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes in New Jersey.

The role requires a HS diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and CPR/First-Aid certification. You will provide personal care, medication assistance, documentation, and community activities, with paid training and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid (non-provisional) drivers license.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help meet the health, safety and welfare of people in the group home.
• Assist with personal care, bathing/toileting, and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.
• Daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Per Diem - Overnight

What's the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities
