Job summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor for a group home in New Jersey. This part-time role involves overnight shifts (Saturday and Sunday 11:00pm–7:00am) with base pay of $20.49/hour on weekdays and $21.49/hour on weekend shifts.

You will help meet residents’ personal health, safety and welfare, perform daily documentation, and support in community activities. Training is provided; background checks and DMV checks are required.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent is required and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care activities (bathing, toileting).
• Participate in cleaning, cooking and life skills activities.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
• Transport residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Hours: Part Time-Shift- 16 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday 11:00pm-7:00am)

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• A Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities

• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
