Catholic Charities in New Jersey is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP) to support adults with disabilities in our group homes. The role involves ensuring personal health and safety, assisting with daily living activities, and administering medications when needed, with outreach and documentation.

The position requires a HS diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and CPR/First Aid readiness.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license is required.
• Must meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help meet personal health, safety and welfare of residents in the group home.
• Assist/supervise in bathing, toileting, cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs using agency vehicles.
• Record daily services provided and maintain documentation.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday 11:00pm-9:00am)

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Overnight Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• A Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community-based activities
