Caritas Gala is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support adults with disabilities in our group homes. You will assist with daily living activities, personal care, meals and life skills while promoting safety and wellbeing.

The role involves per diem shifts with paid training and comprehensive benefits, including health/dental/vision, life insurance, a 403B plan, and generous PTO. Requirements include HS diploma and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of residents.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license is required.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Help meet residents' personal health, safety and welfare in group homes.
• Assist with bathing/toileting, cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs or community activities using agency vehicles.
• Document services provided daily.
• Assist with community-based activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Hours: Per Diem (Mon-Fri 7:00am-10:30am, Evenings 3:00pm-11:00pm, or Overnights 11:00pm-7:00am)

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.


• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.


• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.


• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.


• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.


• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.


• Assist with fun community-based activities
