Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Manager II to oversee direct driver management, ensure safe and timely freight movement, and ensure DOT compliance.

The role requires coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams across day, night, and weekend shifts to maintain service levels. Responsibilities include planning routes, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining safety standards and company regulations.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in transportation/logistics or equivalent military experience
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends
• Strong professional communication skills
• Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability
• Train and orient drivers and staff; support with internal and third-party systems
• Analyze fleet operations and profitability; present reporting and financial analysis
• Manage inventory, assets, and assignment of drivers to balance equipment
• Perform payroll, counseling, accident reviews, invoicing, and reporting
• Oversee yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance
• Resolve service issues with drivers, customers, and back-office teams
