Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey seeks a full-time driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks. Responsibilities include pre-trip/post-trip inspections, logging, reporting, and customer service.

CDL or CLP and DOT compliance are required, with potential to perform dock or freight-handler duties as needed. The position offers hourly pay of $28.48, with benefits enrollment for medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans upon eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A CDL or CLP.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulations under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, multiple times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment issues as required.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as required.
• Chain vehicle tires when necessary.
• Follow all laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
