Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift of ~100 lbs.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events and delays.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Where necessary, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment when required.
