Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles, and to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

You will maintain logs, handle documentation, and follow Dispatch instructions while delivering to service centers and turn-point locations. The role requires a Class A CDL or CLP, a valid MVR, and DOT regulatory compliance, with potential duties on docks and with forklifts or pallet jacks as needed.

Qualifications

• Possess a class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Meet all DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to lift and move heavy trailers and equipment safely.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions regarding delays or issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Possibly perform duties of city driver or freight handler as needed.
• Handle freight with equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
