Job summary

FedEx Freight in North Arlington, NJ is seeking a CDL driver with strong safety focus to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, and assist with dock duties.

You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, secure freight, communicate with dispatch, and provide excellent service to customers while following DOT regulations and company policies. Compensation starts at $32.01 per hour, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have Class A CDL or CLP before entering job classification.
• MVR acceptable per hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT 391 regulatory requirements.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and handle freight.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with motorized or manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related documentation.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and placarding.
• Communicate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
