Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey is seeking a professional tractor-trailer driver to safely operate and deliver between service centers. You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, log maintenance, and follow dispatch instructions while maintaining compliance with hazmat and DOT regulations.

Ideal candidates have a CDL, good MVR, and strong math/communication skills. The role may include dock duties and occasional overnight schedules with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT/regulated requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailer sets and perform lifts up to ~100 pounds.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate any issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding checks.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Perform forklift/dock duties when required.
• Use motorized and manual equipment for freight handling.
