Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with responsibilities spanning docking, safety inspections, and on-time deliveries.

Starting pay is $27.86 per hour, with health and retirement benefits and opportunities for advancement; overnight schedules and varying hours are possible.

The role may include non-driving duties such as forklift operation, log keeping, hazmat compliance, and working at service centers or turns.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learner permit before entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 383-390.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring lift force of ~100 pounds, several times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of a truck.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events including delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
