Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in New Jersey seeks an operator of tractor-trailer combinations and dock duties. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, freight handling, securement, and documenting shipments to support timely deliveries.

The role requires a valid CDL or CLP, MVR and DOT compliance, basic math and communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Day or night shifts with adherence to safety policies are expected.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit.
• MVR must meet hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulations under FMC rules.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a day.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollys.
• Freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related docs.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Demonstrate internal/external customer service.
• Determine pick-up or delivery needs with customers.
• Provide leads to sales for new opportunities.
• Perform road driver or freight handler duties when needed.
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
