Job summary

The City of Austin seeks a Drainage Operations and Maintenance Crew Lead to guide a skilled crew in stormwater projects, creek and channel vegetation management, and erosion control. You will plan tasks, supervise equipment use, ensure safety, and coordinate with other city teams.

Essential duties include leading on projects, conducting JHA safety briefings, performing equipment maintenance, and ensuring timely, quality completion. CDL is required; heavy equipment experience is a must.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience leading and coordinating construction/drainage crews.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and JHA processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train large crews; assign tasks and monitor quality.
• Ensure delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to the jobsite.
• Operate and oversee maintenance of gas/diesel/propane equipment and heavy trucks.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and safety briefings; manage traffic control on sites.
