Job summary

City of Austin is seeking three qualified individuals to perform highly skilled construction and maintenance work in the Concrete Team. The role includes operating heavy equipment, driving trucks and trailers to haul equipment, and supporting drainage and right-of-way maintenance under CSR requests.

You will conduct pre-trip inspections, enforce safety measures on job sites, and contribute to storm water management facilities, stream bank stabilization, and erosion control projects.

Qualifications

• Experience operating multiple heavy equipment types per directive.
• Ability to perform pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance.
• Ready to work in storm water and erosion control projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate a minimum of two types of heavy equipment per Equipment Training Program.
• Drive trucks and trailers to haul equipment and materials.
• Oversee maintenance of gas/diesel/propane equipment.
• May demonstrate leadership in enforcing safety measures and conduct Job Hazard Analysis meetings as needed.
• Perform work in storm water management facilities, on stream bank stabilization and erosion control projects.
• Conducts proper pre-trip inspections to ensure proper operating conditions.
• Report malfunctions and repair requirements to crew lead or supervisor.
• Perform and oversee landscape maintenance including trimming trees, mowing, seeding, laying sod and erosion control.
• Participate in emergency responses during floods, severe weather, and accidents; and participate in training to meet department goals.
