Job summary

Jobtailor in Statesboro, GA is seeking a dedicated Plasma Center Technician to perform phlebotomy and donor processing for plasma collection, while ensuring donor safety and product quality.

You will operate autopheresis equipment, monitor donor health, keep accurate records, and uphold FDA/OSHA/CLIA guidelines. Must have Phlebotomist, Donor Processor, and Plasma Processor certifications and at least 4 years of related experience. This is a full-time, on-site role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Phlebotomist, Donor Processor, and Plasma Processor certifications.
  • Typically requires 4 years of related experience performing phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing duties.
  • Demonstrated proficiency handling difficult situations
  • Familiarity with and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOP Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information and ideas
  • Ability to perform complex tasks under variable and changing conditions
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to perform physical duties including sitting or standing for an entire shift, bending, twisting, frequent hand and foot movements, squatting/crouching, and reaching below shoulder height
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision and color perception/discrimination as specified
  • Ability to work with biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical/laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment

Job description

  • Maintain active communication with other service areas to ensure accurate documentation and quality
  • Build rapport with donors and support long-term donation through customer satisfaction
  • Report unsafe situations or conditions to the area lead, supervisor, or manager
  • May be trained to repair plasma centre equipment
  • Determine donor suitability for plasmapheresis before venipuncture
  • Respond to and assist with donor reactions according to guidelines
  • Monitor donors and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines
  • Troubleshoot autopheresis displays and document exceptions
  • Calibrate and maintain autopheresis machines and associated equipment
  • Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
  • Clean equipment and work areas between donors
  • Maintain accurate production records and donor confidentiality
  • Collect and process donor samples for testing
  • Record product and sample weights
  • Label samples and freeze units within required timeframes
  • Participate in unit management according to SOP
  • Pack units and samples for final shipment to the testing laboratory
  • Monitor stored product and equipment working conditions
  • Conduct pre-donation medical screening
  • Determine hematocrit and protein using finger sticks, hematastat, and refractometer
  • Provide feedback to ineligible donors
  • Complete and verify donor screening information
  • Communicate donor medical information to medical staff
  • Establish and maintain organized donor files
  • Perform administrative duties, greet donors, answer phones, and assist center management
