Qualifications

  • Respond to donor reactions according to guidelines.

  • Set up, disconnect and operate automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Evaluate autopheresis troubleshooting displays and document exceptions.
  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of autopheresis machines and equipment.
  • May be trained to repair plasma equipment.
  • Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment.

Job description

  • Assist in determining donor suitability for plasmapheresis before venipuncture
  • Respond to and assist with donor reactions according to guidelines
  • Monitor donors and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality
  • Set up, disconnect and operate automated plasmapheresis machines
  • Evaluate autopheresis troubleshooting displays and document exceptions
  • Ensure calibration and maintenance of autopheresis machines and associated equipment
  • May be trained to repair plasma equipment
  • Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
  • Clean equipment and work areas between donors
  • Maintain accurate production records
  • Ensure donor confidentiality
  • Build rapport with donors and support long-term donation and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, SOPs and company procedures
  • Report unsafe situations or conditions to the area lead, supervisor or manager
  • Cross-train and work in other areas to ensure efficient center operations
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
  • Typically requires 2 years of related experience
  • Familiarity and compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP and internal company procedures
  • Ability to work with biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • Ability to use electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme cold below 32 degrees F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to stand for 6 to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to bend and twist neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement and precise coordinated finger, hand and wrist movements
  • Ability to walk up to 6-8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
  • Essential hearing acuity
  • Color perception/discrimination; near and far vision correctable to specified levels
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
