Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a team member for a Goodwill retail store to support the mission by maximizing efficiency, keeping the store presentable, and ensuring customer and associate satisfaction while processing donations promptly for placement on the sales floor.

The role demands teamwork in a fast-paced environment, the ability to learn new procedures quickly, adherence to safety rules, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; combination of education and work experience considered.
• No previous experience required.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Inspects donations and raw material for quality to determine marketability as outlined in the Retail Operations Manual.
• Sorts raw material and categorizes for store use, salvage, or trash.
• Tags donated items according to Goodwill's rotation system.
• Places sorted goods on the sales floor according to productivity standards.
• Produces appropriate number of items daily according to minimum standards.
• Adheres to uniform dress code standards as outlined in the Retail Operations Manual.
• Demonstrates an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Works as a team member in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities and learning new procedures.
• May be cross-trained in multiple production and customer service positions.
• Adheres to Assets Protection control and compliance procedures.
• Communicates effectively with customers, peers and management.
• Follows the work schedule and can handle the physical demands of the role.
