Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a full-time associate to contribute to our mission in a retail environment. You will maximize store appearance, assist customers and fellow associates, and process donations for placement on the sales floor.

Responsibilities include inspecting donations, sorting materials, tagging items, and maintaining standards. A flexible schedule, strong teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. Will consider a combination of education and work experience.
• No previous experience required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• The associate is not required to drive as part of their job duties.
• The associate will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Inspects donations to determine marketability as outlined in the Retail Operations Manual.
• Sorts raw material and categorizes for store use, salvage, trash.
• Tags donated items according to Goodwill's rotation system.
• Stands and hangs sorted goods for placement on the sales floor per standards.
• Produces appropriate number of items daily according to minimum standards.
• Adheres to uniform dress code standards.
• Demonstrates an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
• Works as a team member in a fast-paced environment and learns new procedures.
• Cross trains in multiple production and customer service positions.
• Adheres to Assets Protection control and compliance procedures.
• Communicates effectively with customers, peers and management.
• Adheres to work schedule.
• Able to handle the physical requirements to accomplish daily responsibilities.
