Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Dockmaster for the 1st shift (Mon–Fri, 8:00am–4:30pm) to lead dock operations and coordinate trailer movements across the yard. This hands-on role partners with operations, transportation, safety, and customer teams to ensure safe, efficient, and timely dock activity.

You will uphold safety protocols, monitor dock conditions, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining 7S standards and site processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse, distribution, dock, yard, or transportation environment.
• Ability to coordinate dock or yard activities in a fast-paced operation.
• Knowledge of trailer docking, release procedures, and trailer anatomy.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to follow processes, safety standards, and escalation protocols.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Comfort using Office 365 and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Champion operation safety and equipment readiness.
• Coordinate loading/unloading dock activities and trailer movements.
• Manage docking, release, and yard flow.
• Monitor dock conditions and escalate unsafe situations.
• Partner with site operations, transportation, yard services, and customer teams.
• Communicate professionally with stakeholders.
• Ensure dock activities align with guidelines and 7S standards.
• Support dock and yard organization per 7S.
• Conduct regular visual inspections to identify risks.
• Use Office 365 and Google Suite to track activity and document issues.
• Provide coverage to site leadership and peers.
