Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Dockmaster for the 3rd shift (11:00pm–7:30am) to oversee dock operations, coordinate trailer movements, and partner with operations, transportation, safety, and customer teams to keep the yard running safely and efficiently.

This hands-on leadership role requires accountability, strong communication, and a readiness to work outdoors in all weather, with a focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a warehouse, distribution, dock, yard, or transportation-related environment.
• Ability to coordinate dock or yard activities in a fast-paced operation.
• Working knowledge of trailer docking, release procedures, and trailer anatomy.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and across varied terrain.
• Strong adherence to processes, safety standards and escalation protocols.
• Excellent communication with internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Champion operation safety and support dock-related equipment as required.
• Serve as primary contact for loading/unloading dock activities and coordinate trailer movements.
• Manage docking, release, and yard flow, following trailer anatomy and safety standards.
• Monitor dock conditions and apply stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Partner with site operations, transportation, yard services, and customer teams to prioritize tasks.
• Communicate professionally with stakeholders and maintain a customer service mindset.
• Ensure dock activities align with process guidelines and site SWIs; complete tasks.
• Support dock and yard organization in alignment with 7S standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and identify risks or delays; document issues using Office/GSuite.
• Provide coverage and operational support to site leadership and peers as needed.
