Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to load, unload, stage, and move freight in a fast-paced dock or warehouse environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, scan cargo, and document movements to ensure accuracy and safety.

This is a hands-on role that mentors newer Material Handlers and supports daily dock operations. Required are a valid forklift certification, 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification: Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: English communication skills for safety instructions and freight documentation.
• Physical: Lift up to 75 lbs with assistance; extensive standing for 8–12 hours.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading per safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Follow OSHA and PPE policies and maintain dock cleanliness.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers on procedures.
