Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight within a multimodal terminal and warehouse. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related MHE, ensuring accurate scanning, labeling, and documentation of cargo.

The role requires a valid forklift certification, 3+ years dock or warehouse experience, and strong English communication. You must work a Sunday–Thursday night shift, with potential overtime, in a non-climate-controlled

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, and barcodes and perform basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Safe operation of MHE and adherence to PPE and OSHA standards.
• Regular attendance and ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and warehouse areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and support productivity goals.
• Learn equipment operation, safety protocols, and job procedures.
• Work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Mentor junior Material Handlers and assist with troubleshooting on the floor.
