Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight in a multimodal terminal or warehouse environment. You will use sit-down/stand-up forklifts, scanners, and dock equipment to document cargo with accuracy and support productivity.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years dock/warehouse experience, a valid forklift certification, and strong English communication. This onsite role requires standing for long periods and performance of varied shifts, including

Qualifications

• Requires forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain)
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience
• Strong English communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to read numbers, labels, barcodes and freight markings accurately
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners
• Experience operating pallet jacks, dollies, hand trucks, and reach trucks

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and MHE, following safety procedures
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas
• Pick, pack and prepare items for shipping and delivery
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading per safety procedures
• Label, scan, and track freight with handheld devices and systems
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE standards
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency
• Work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
