Job summary

Estes Express in Jersey City, NJ seeks a Dock Supervisor to lead, guide and direct dock employees, set targets and monitor performance. You will manage an efficient, safe L2L operation, schedule dock activities, and liaise with customers by phone, fax or email.

You will enforce policies, participate in hiring decisions, meet KPIs and coordinate equipment movement. Strong leadership, planning and communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the trucking industry and paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required.
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring and termination abilities.
• Team building, interpersonal skills and effective communication.
• Excellent planning, organization and computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Must be able to work 50 hours per week including nights/weekends and various weather conditions.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct dock employees; set targets and monitor performance.
• Manage efficient, clean and safe L2L operation including dock planning and scheduling.
• Enforce safety policies and government regulations; participate in hiring and termination decisions.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan per the Service Center Manager.
• Meet KPIs and utilize company tools; revise schedules to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Coordinate equipment movement (trailers/tractors) with supervisors; ensure timely communications with customers.
• Oversee dock paperwork; ensure accuracy and timeliness; maintain regular attendance.
