Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is looking for a dedicated Dockworker to support loading and unloading freight, ensuring safety and accuracy. You will use forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual methods while adhering to DOT guidelines to protect shipments and meet service commitments. Strong reading of shipping labels and forms will be required.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment within our service centers.

Qualifications

• Must have strong lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to monitor shipment locations using dock yard system.
• Must be available to meet customer pickup/delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually, following DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight and yourself around the service center.
• Monitor freight locations with the Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight-related forms.
• Secure freight in trailers with straps and airbags as needed.
• Ensure quality loading of trailers and safety of operations.
