Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual methods while ensuring safety and correct securing of loads. You will follow DOT guidelines, read shipping labels, and support yard operations to keep deliveries reliable.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and adherence to procedures in a fast-paced service center environment. Flexible shifts and strong safety culture are central to the OD family.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Ability to safely lift and transport freight.
• Knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with loading techniques such as tight and cross loading.
• Ability to read and complete freight movement forms.
• Ability to operate the dock yard management system.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual methods in line with DOT guidelines.
• Transport self and freight around the service center.
• Monitor freight locations with the dock yard management system.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as required.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers and secure freight inside trailers.
