Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring correct placement on trucks. Safety is paramount, with forklift use and proper securing of cargo to prevent damage during transport.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced service center, perform various loading techniques, read shipping labels, and complete related freight movement forms while supporting other warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Knowledge of freight movement forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to operate Dock Yard Management System.
• Willingness to work varied shifts and meet schedules.
• Read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manual methods.
• Use various loading techniques and secure freight with straps.
• Move freight throughout the service center and monitor locations.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms.
• Ensure quality loading and safe trailer operations.
• Communicate with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.
