Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to load and unload freight, operate forklifts, and secure cargo for on-time deliveries. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork within a fast-paced service center.

You will read labels, use the dock yard management system, and assist with yard movement while complying with DOT guidelines. Strong work ethic and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and freight procedures.
• Familiar with shipping forms used in freight movement.
• Ability to use the dock yard management system to monitor locations.
• Must be available to meet customer pickup/delivery schedules.
• Ability to operate handheld tablet when needed.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manually.
• Transport freight within the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Read shipping labels and complete required freight forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or other supplies.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers and maintain safety.
• Communicate with service center personnel and meet deadlines.
