Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. seeks a Dock Worker to efficiently load and unload freight at our service center and ensure correct items are placed on the right trucks. Safety is paramount, with forklift and pallet jack use, securing loads and using straps to prevent damage during transport.

This role directly impacts on-time deliveries. You will read labels, handle freight documentation, and perform tasks to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules with attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and freight procedures.
• Familiar with shipping forms and yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight using forklift or manual methods per DOT guidelines.
• Apply loading techniques including cross loading.
• Move throughout the service center and monitor locations via the yard system.
• Read shipping labels and complete forms for freight movement.
• Secure freight with straps/airbags and rewrap or stack as needed.
