Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight within dock areas, loading and unloading trailers, and assisting with paperwork. The role requires operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight safely and efficiently.

Starting pay is $21.16 per hour. You will verify shipments, secure loads, and aid customers with freight documentation while adhering to safety protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and operate dock equipment repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight during shift.
• Able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading/unloading.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation aligns with description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and paperwork as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
