Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead afterschool and day camp programs across the greater Houston area, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with licensing standards. The role focuses on building community connections, program evaluation, and fiduciary oversight.

The candidate will recruit and supervise site leads, oversee budgets, and implement strategies to expand services while maintaining the YMCA mission and values.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years previous experience including 2 years supervisory experience in licensed childcare preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent (preferred).
• Must meet Director qualifications as stated in the Minimum Standards under TDPRS.
• At least 21 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Current TB examination or health regs as required by local/state health dept.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight and coordinates high-quality youth development programs in afterschool and outdoor day camp settings.
• Ensures compliance with state/local regulations and risk management policies.
• Plans, organizes, and implements developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Recruits, hires, and trains program staff to meet licensing standards and staffing ratios.
• Manages site budgets, payroll transactions, accounts receivable/payable, and forecasting.
• Implements marketing strategies to promote program growth and brand exposure.
• Engages families through orientations, newsletters, and events.
• Builds relationships with schools, parents, and community groups.
• Collects data to monitor program evaluation and drive improvements.
• Participates in annual fundraising campaigns and community initiatives.
