Job summary

HDR seeks a WTEM Business Class Director to lead and coordinate HDR’s wastewater treatment and effluent management initiatives. You will drive technical excellence, mentor leaders, and manage strategic relationships with clients and academic partners to advance HDR’s practice.

The role emphasizes organizational leadership, risk management, and high-level technical oversight across multiple regions, with significant travel and collaboration across HDR's global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field.
• Professional or Architecture/Engineering registration for technical leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
• Coordinate with related business classes, market sectors, and operations.
• Lead technical risk management through process and resource reviews, claims prevention and avoidance.
• Drive quality assurance and control processes with the Quality Manager.
• Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards, and techniques.
• Assign qualified staff to projects and manage workload allocation.
• Develop strategic plan for the business class with market sector leaders.
• Lead applied research engagement and translate outcomes into practice standards.
• Foster relationships with universities for workforce development and recruiting.
• Facilitate cross-office teamwork and communications across HDR.
