Job summary

HDR is seeking a WTEM Business Class Director to lead the wastewater treatment and effluent management program. You will drive technical excellence, coordinate with market sectors, and mentor leaders across HDR’s offices while advancing research and industry relationships.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, a strong engineering background, and a commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture. Some travel is anticipated to support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of related experience.
• Registration in a professional or Architecture/Engineering field may be required for leadership roles.
• Experience leading diverse teams and collaborating with other HDR directors.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
• Build relationships with related business classes, market sectors, and operations.
• Lead technical risk management through reviews and advisory services.
• Drive quality assurance and control processes with the Quality Manager.
• Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards, and techniques.
• Assign qualified staff to projects and manage staffing across offices.
• Develop strategic plans with market sector directors for the business class.
• Lead research engagement to advance WTEM capabilities and standards.
• Foster relationships with university programs for workforce development and hiring.
• Mentor technical leaders and support project pursuits.
• Represent HDR in industry organizations and conferences.
