GRAEF seeks a Director of Transportation Engineering to lead technical excellence across the firm and advance our transportation practice. Reporting to the CTO, the role focuses on standards, quality, collaboration across offices, and developing the next generation of leaders.

The position balances strategic leadership with hands‑on project involvement, delivering high‑impact transportation solutions and guiding client relationships and pursuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of 12 years of transportation engineering experience.
• Demonstrated technical and leadership experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Passion for technical excellence, quality, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of firmwide technical standards, best practices, quality processes, and resources across the Transportation Engineering Technical Community.
• Promote collaboration and work-sharing across offices; connect projects with the right expertise.
• Support onboarding, mentoring, technical training, and succession planning within the community.
• Partner with firm leadership on technical strategy, innovation, recruiting, business planning, and development of client relationships.
• Remain actively engaged in project leadership, design, and technical oversight to improve delivery and manage risk.
