GRAEF in Minneapolis seeks a Director of Transportation Engineering to lead the firmwide transportation practice, setting technical standards, driving quality, and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

You will stay hands-on with projects while shaping strategy, collaborating across offices, and guiding business development, recruiting, and investment in emerging technologies within the practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of 12 years of transportation engineering experience.
• Demonstrated technical and leadership experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Passion for technical excellence, quality, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of firmwide technical standards, best practices, quality processes, and resources for consistent, high-quality project delivery across the Transportation Engineering Technical Community.
• Promote collaboration and work-sharing across offices, connect projects with the right expertise, and strengthen firmwide technical capabilities.
• Support onboarding, mentoring, technical training, and succession planning within the Transportation Engineering Technical Community.
• Partner with firm leadership on technical strategy, innovation, recruiting, business planning, and business development, including client relationships and project pursuits.
• Remain actively engaged in project work through leadership, design, and technical oversight to improve delivery and manage risk.
